Martin has worked within the building services industry for over 25 years and has subsequently gained valuable engineering and management experience in a wide variety of sectors. Hurstwood was established by Martin to deliver a proactive consultancy service with the emphasis on sustainable cost effective design solutions. Projects Martin has been involved with include:

• Astra Pharmaceuticals - 40,000 ft² manufacturing facility, Corby
• Network Rail - 50,000 ft² signalling centre, Cardiff
• BT - Worldwide site evaluations including Australia, Malaysia and Singapore
• HSBC - 45,000 ft² Grade A office fit out, Birmingham

Peter Griffiths
Partner - Electrical

Pete has been undertaking electrical design projects since 1997, when he worked for DGP International on
various projects throughout the UK and Europe. He now works alongside Martin Leading on electrical design projects. His many successful projects include, sheltered housing schemes, rail, schools, universities, libraries, police stations and telecoms projects, where he was site based in various European cities.

Paul Chambers
Mechanical Design Engineer

Paul has worked in the engineering industry for 9 years, and specialises in electrical, mechanical and detailing design - carrying out CAD from simple domestic refrigeration installations right through to large HVAC installations. Projects include Network Rail Signalling Centres  -  Derby EMCC, Glasgow WSSC and Didcot TVSC, Cheshunt Station Refurbishment, Wembley Central Station and Siemens Train Facility in York.

Bryan Alston
Principle Mechanical Engineer

Bryan specialises in the design and project management of industrial and commercial mechanical building services systems including energy surveys and feasibility reports.  His experience is extensive, having worked in the industry for 30 years on a large range of buildings including prisons, hospitals, pharmaceuticals, commercial and manufacturing facilities.  His most recent projects include developing an energy loop at BAE Samlesbury, Combined Heat and Power Plant for Birmingham Heartlands Hospital and mechanical services for Manchester Children’s University Hospital.  Early projects worked on include mechanical services for Hanger 302 Warton for the assembly of the Typhoon Aircraft, mechanical services for both Birmingham and Manchester International Airports. 

His education includes both a Master and Bachelor of Science in Building Services Engineering.  He has written editorials for both the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineering Journal’s and Nuclear Engineering International Publications.Bryan is both a Chartered and European engineer and professional qualifications include a fellow of both the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers and the Energy Institute and a Member of the American Society of Heating and Air Conditioning Engineers.

Gary Finch
Mechanical Design Engineer

Gary has 30 years experience in the building services industry as a mechanical engineer and has worked on a number of multi-disciplined projects with some of the north west's leading consultants and contractors. He has achieved his BEng (Hons) degree in building services Engineering. Gary has valuable experience in designs and project management on a number of refurbished and new buildings ranging from offices, commercial developments, retail and leisure, education, hotels and residential.

Some notable projects that Gary has been involved in include No 1 Hardman Boulevard - Manchester,Ronald McDonald House - Birmingham, The Point - Lancashire county cricket club,
Visage offices - Manchester, Chemistry building - Manchester university, Hilton hotel apartments - Manchester, LG Semi-conductor – Newport, Ore Valley College - Hastings
