BREEAM 'Outstanding' Rating for BMS Building 6.

We’re proud to announce that one of our recent projects for Bristol Myers Squibb - Building 6, located in Moreton, Wirral, has achieved an OUTSTANDING rating under the BREEAM UK New Construction 2018 scheme.

With a score of 88.4%, this places the BMS building firmly within the top tier of sustainable commercial developments in the UK.

Hurstwood Environmental Consulting played a key role in helping the project meet these ambitious targets. Drawing on our extensive knowledge of sustainable building services design, we provided early-stage thermal modelling and strategic guidance that directly contributed to the project achieving a BREEAM Outstanding rating.

BMS Building 6 also has a current EPC A(2) rating with plans already in motion to increase PV provision which will generate an EPC rating of A+, This would be the second A+ (Net Zero CO2) Building Hurstwood have helped deliver on this site!

As with all our schemes, our focus from the outset was on designing energy-efficient systems that reduce carbon emissions while maintaining excellent occupant comfort and usability.

The project, was delivered in close collaboration with ADP Architecture , Eric Wright Group and AECOM. Our Innovative design approach helped unlock valuable BREEAM credits in categories such as Energy (87%), Water (100%), and Management (95%), among others.

Achieving BREEAM Outstanding is a significant milestone that reflects not just technical capability but shared vision across the design team. We’re delighted to have contributed to a project that sets a high benchmark for future-ready, low-carbon buildings—and look forward to seeing it come to life.
