Winsford E-ACT Academy

Project Overview: Winsford E-ACT Academy

New build 1,900 student Academy located on Grange Lane, Winsford, Cheshire CW7 2BT. The Academy includes

60 classrooms with flexible learning spaces; a 400-seat theatre in the Performing Arts Centre; Learning Resource Centre; outstanding sports facilities; science labs; drama and dance studios; music rehearsal rooms; media suites; a Sixth Form Centre; art studios; and technology workshops.

Windows and Mac-based PCs are available across the Academy, Apple TV and large HDMI, flat-screen televisions also feature in all classrooms.

The project was undertaken using BIM software and has proved successful with regards to early warning clash detection between the services and structure.

The site is located at the former West Yorkshire Fire Service site, Nelson Street, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD5 0EZ. The site comprises an area of approximately 8,000m2 and was previously occupied by the redundant West Yorkshire Fire Service station. The site is bound on all sides by industrial developments with Caledonia Street to the north, Gordon Street to the east, Duinen Street to the south, and Nelson Street to the West.

The internal floor area of the new school is approximately 2,550m² and has a capacity for 525 pupils aged 4-11.

Project Overview: Fisherman's Friend, Fleetwood

Fit-out of new 3,000m² manufacturing and packaging facility to increase the current output of 5 billion lozenges per year. The project included the formation of 9 new ISO 8 class cells requiring temperature and humidity control together with cascade pressure differentials between open product cells, transient corridors and change facilities.

Hurstwood undertook the validation for the project including the preparation of the Installation Qualification (IQ) and the Operational Qualification (OQ) chronicling the Mechanical Services Installation sought for the premises and confirming that they were in accordance with Fishermans Friends requirements for production, storage and distribution of products.

Wyreside Hotel Development

Project Overview: Wyreside Hotel Development

The project comprises the conversion of, and extension to Wyreside Hall, a Grade II listed property into a 5* hotel and leisure complex together with external hard and soft landscaping.

Phase I: Conversion of the existing hall and reception extension including basement whisky bar, snooker room, welfare, server room, stores and transient space with an open plan area for possible future occupation. Ground floor summer room, TV room, bar, function rooms and kitchen. First-floor bedroom accommodation.

Phase II: New extension including ground floor function room, kitchen and bedroom accommodation. First-floor bedroom accommodation.

All hotel bedrooms are served via HVRF systems incorporating HBC controllers providing low-pressure hot water or chilled water to each fan coil unit providing simultaneous heating and cooling with full heat recovery between fan coil units and building zones.
